KISG is delighted to welcome award-winning journalist and filmmaker Richard Kerbaj, for an in-conversation with Dr David Schaefer.

Richard’s most recent book is a remarkable achievement, weaving together stories from more than 75 years of secret cooperation between the intelligence and security agencies of the Five Eyes nations: US, UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. Informed by hundreds of exclusive interviews with political leaders and intelligence officials, The Secret History of the Five Eyessurveys the key operations and historical characters which have shaped the world’s most exclusive intelligence partnership.

In this discussion, Richard will talk about the major themes that emerge in his book, the most significant findings from his interviews with senior figures in the Five Eyes agencies, and his research process as a journalist and documentary maker covering sensitive intelligence issues.

Attendees are asked to arrive from 5.00pm for a 5.30pm start.

Speaker bio:

Richard Kerbaj is a Bafta-winning and twice Emmy-nominated journalist, filmmaker, and documentary writer. Formerly the security correspondent for the Sunday Times, he has specialised in investigating crime- and national security-related stories for more than fifteen years. He has written extensively about the impact that counter-terrorism and counter-espionage have had on intelligence agencies, including MI5, MI6, GCHQ and the CIA, in their battle against ISIS and al-Qaeda, Russia's widespread disinformation campaigns, and China's industrialised thefts of Western intellectual property.
