Biography
Kayla Berg is a PhD researcher in the Department of War Studies, at KCL on the Fulbright King’s College London Award. She has completed a MA in International Relations with a concentration in Global Security at American University and holds a BA in Psychology.
Prior to her PhD studies, Kayla built a career in public service connecting and navigating the complexities of the relationship between people, politics and government. Her research sits at the intersection of intelligence studies, psychology and national security. Her doctoral research will examine how Soviet psychological theory informed the foreign intelligence operations of the Stasi HVA, with a focus on the role of emotion in shaping cooperation and compliance among targets.
