Biography
Tim Symington has almost 30 years working in the UK defence and security community.
He joined the Ministry of Defence in 1992 where he spent 20 years working on a wide variety of security threats, including terrorism, cyber and organised crime.
In 2013 he joined the Board of the National Crime Agency where he was Intelligence Director and later Director of Change. During that time he led UK law enforcement's contribution to the Investigatory Powers Act 2016.
From 2018 to 2020 he worked for Lloyds Banking Group, building new intelligence capability for preventing fraud and money laundering as Group Director, Financial Intelligence Unit.
Tim Joined the Department of War Studies in May 2020.
